UMD webinar: CDB-IMD as new educational tool – what’s in it for you?

|

On May 21st from 15.30-17.30 CET UMD will organize a webinar on the CDB-IMD.

The case database of inherited metabolic disorders (CDB-IMD) is a new educational tool as repository of structured metabolic cases from atypical as well as typical IMD cases. The ultimate goal of the CDB-IMD as captured in its vision is to improve the quality of life of patients with IMD through earlier recognition and timely initiation of treatment. By promoting learning, teaching and sharing case histories, the CDB-IMD helps healthcare professionals such as physicians to recognize IMD patients.

In Q1 2024 the CDB-IMD opened and IMD professionals (in training) are invited to register to CDB-IMD in order to obtain personal access to the case repository after checking of credentials. To learn, to teach and to share….CDB visitors could profit from the CDB-IMD in multiple ways. The ultimate goal is that the CDB-IMD covers the full spectrum of IMD (> 1450). This gives our metabolic community a great challenge: how to find and assemble all the unique IMD cases that are often hidden as educational treasures in metabolic centers all over the world? What could motivate the international community of metabolic professionals from clinic and lab to submit their special cases to the CDB-IMD? What unique opportunities are offered by case submission to the CDB-IMD? Find out what the (free) CDB-IMD membership could mean for you! For example, use a case from the CDB-IMD in a presentation for students. A repository of cases is available.

In the webinar we will shortly introduce the CDB-IMD and you will get a guided tour to find out all possibilities the CDB-IMD offers. Our metabolic colleagues and collaborators give their personal view on the CDB-IMD: we are looking forward to contributions of the international community with Mark Korson, Ron Wevers, Hanka Dekker (the first CDB-IMD ambassador!), Johannes Häberle as well as Clara van Karnebeek.
